from “Strange Things Are Happening in Barbara Hepworth’s Bed” Part 2
Strange Thing Remembers Her Lovers: In this image, she is reflecting back on her previous lovers, gazing as a man walks in a field near a cottage. Thoughts, nice and not so nice, memories and tears are appearing on the left side going into the basket, letting them all go. She holds a flower of love.
Strange Thing Creates: She has pulled herself together as always and has decided to begin a new piece of art, holding a fresh piece of stone in her hands. It’s another sunny day and on the far left side of the image is a “tool” of some sort, looking rather Native American, symbolic of that all pervasive energy source. In the background is a jug representing nourishment and the cone shape is a symbol of plenty, abundance, joy and the fruition of plans. These symbols tie together earth with heaven, representing a unifying element, the life force from which we create our art.
Strange Thing Discovers Treasures: “You must find your treasure in order to make sense of everything you’ve discovered on your path.”
Paulo Coelho
Strange Birthdays in B&W: Wildlife and laundry in the bedroom! Candles on the cow’s head! I have no idea how she may have felt about animals being in her room. The room has become quite playful and full of love and happiness. Life is good.
