TRAVELING WITH THE IPHONE

Needless to say I love traveling and I love photography and after over 40 years of carrying a big camera it’s  great not having to do that anymore.  For the past four years I’ve only used my iPhone.  It began in Cornwall, England at Barbara Hepworth’s Studio, culminating in an entire series called “Strange Things are Happening in Barbara Hepworth’s Bed”.  My latest single image series is here, India and the iPhone 2016. Of course I love to composite imagery but that’s not possible on these tours.  So I decide after I arrive which app combination(s) I’ll shoot with that get me excited.  Last year it was a B&W challenge, capturing India without all it’s gorgeous colors.  This year I went back to color and changed the format to 16 x 9 and used two different combinations in Hipstamatic…Jane/Blanco which is my go-to color combo and Sergio/Cheshire for a more soft and center focus affect.  Yes we can change the app combination after the initial capture but I realize that I’m less inspired by what I’m shooting if I use the native camera.  In addition, finding a combo you like and sticking to it enables you to see imagery that works within that format, i.e., 16 x 9.
